The Safer Lunchtimes Mark

Covid is still impacting schools!

Staff absence is adding pressures to schools like never before.

We’ve seen first-hand how schools are still being impacted by Covid.

Whether that is via staff absences or a minority of pupil bubbles.

The Safer Lunchtimes mark will show you how, despite your staffing restrictions, lunchtimes don't have to be a logistical nightmare.

We'll show you how we have supported schools (even with restrictions at their peak!) how to allocate your staff and navigate tge school lunchtimes so it is both enjoyable and safe for everyone involved.

What does a Safer Lunchtime Look Like?

Adaptable service with minimum disruption

Organised and efficient, whilst keeping the 'normality' for pupils.

An organised staff team, who confidently know their roles and responsibilities - regardless of staff numbers.

Well zoned, organised and active playgrounds that can be run without feeling that you need 'more bodies' outside.

A Safer Lunchtime...

Lunchtimes are the most unstructured part of the school day at the best of times, and with staff absences continuing to impact schools, this part of the school day is more important than ever to get right.

Schools have told us that in sorting their lunchtimes:

- Incidents around lunchtime have fallen

- Behaviour improves

- Staff are happier

Using the Framework from our 'esteemed' Better Lunchtimes Mark in combination with our experience of writing UK leading guidance for schools, about lunchtimes, during the start of the pandemic - the Safer Lunchtimes Mark is adaptable around the barriers YOU are facing.

We have supported the most complex of school lunchtimes during the pandemic and, with one visit, we'll show you how to revise your lunchtimes, and allocate staffing so that they can run in the most efficient manner.

In which we visit your school and, using our adapted Better Lunchtimes Mark criteria, take in all the required information during one lunchtime. Including a comprehensive report, debrief same-day solutions and an action plan.

How it works?

  • You’ll be sent an initial pre-audit document

  • We’ll observe the whole of lunchtime (both indoors and out) following a chat with you/ your senior leaders

  • We’ll then debrief you – providing real-time, on the day feedback that you can implement right away

  • We’ll compile an action plan, detailing how you can simply improve every aspect of lunchtime

  • You’ll get your Safer Lunchtimes Mark through the post once completed!

"Our Lunchtimes are so much better now. Children are enjoying sitting in a calm lunch hall and the playgrounds are organised!"

“The biggest change we have seen at lunchtimes is through the feedback from pupils and parents. They tell us that they now love lunchtimes, the opportunity to have responsibility through being a Lunchtime Monitor and the family dining experience in the hall. Parents tell us that their children talk enthusiastically about lunchtimes and some children who had never tried the school lunch option before are now regularly eating school dinners. It has involved a lot of work but the whole experience has been a huge success.”

“Brilliant use of money which has transformed how we work in a very tangible way and all our children have benefited and the staff are so proud of what they have achieved together. I love showing people what we’ve done!”
