Before School Health UK's Better Lunchtimes Project stepped in, Clair Henry, Deputy Headteacher of Holbrook Primary, describes their lunchtime environment as "noisy and crowded," with an unexciting playground where pupils didn’t mix well.
However, after implementing key changes, the difference has been remarkable. "The dining room is now a calm and enjoyable space for the children to eat, and the playground is organised, structured, and fun," Clair explains.
Staff are more proactive, and children are enjoying lunchtimes much more. The behaviour and atmosphere have notably improved, making the whole lunchtime experience more positive for everyone involved.
Clair highlights how valuable it was to have an outside perspective. "It was great to have another pair of eyes look at our lunchtime and improve it with changes that have made a huge difference."
When asked if she would recommend School Health UK, her answer was a resounding "Yes!"
